Marco Rossi Prospect Scouting Report

2018-19 Team: Ottawa 67’s (#23)
Date of Birth: September 23, 2001
Place of Birth: Feldkirch, Austria
Ht: 5’9”/176cm Wt:179/81 lbs/kg
Position: C
Projected Draft Position #8

Marco Rossi is one of the most talented players to ever come out of Austria. Players that came before him include Michael Grabner, Thomas Vanek and Michael Raffl. Thomas Vanek racked up 789 career points and still counting. Will be tough for Rossi to match those totals. Marco missed the 2019 draft because of his late birth date, missing it by eight days which gives him an advantage over other 2020 draft eligible prospects with almost a full year of development.

High Hockey IQ

Marco Rossi is a very intelligent player with a high hockey IQ. Rossi is a very consistent player night in and night out. Works extremely hard every shift on the ice. His play in his own end speaks volumes for his hard work. He is a relentless backchecker and is almost always in the correct position at both ends of the ice. He competes very hard for the puck and comes away with the puck most of the time.

Very good skater

Marco Rossi is a very good skater but needs to develop more top end speed. Marco uses and has excellent edgework and balance. Often beats defenders on on one with his excellent puck handling abilities. Marco is very athletic on his skates and possesses excellent creativity. Plays a high pace game which is very suited for today’s game.

Offense

Marco is a very unpredictable player making him very dangerous on rushes. He is a treat to watch on the PP with his excellent puck skills and stickhandling abilities. Plays the middle of the ice and dishes passes with ease in the offensive zone. Marco has an excellent shot that is deceptive. He is not afraid to go the net with authority to try and create a scoring chance.

Intangibles

Marco Rossi is a born leader on the ice, leads by example with his consistent hard work. Well liked in the dressing room and not afraid to get involved with community work. I look forward to his second season in the OHL with the Ottawa 67’s.
