Dylan Holloway is a mature winger with refined offensive abilities and a strong work ethic.
The highlight of Dylan Holloway’s game is definitely his offensive skills, which allow him to be productive and creative. He displays exceptional puck control at high speeds in traffic and in open ice. In addition, he is adept at using his speed to create room for his teammates, who are often the beneficiaries of his well timed and well placed passes. He can get off his shot in pretty much any situation with great accuracy and force, though shot selection can be an area for improvement, as he likely has more time and space to adjust his shot even more than he sometimes thinks. In addition, he has shown a willingness to play a complete 200 foot game as his effort and commitment in all 3 zones is very good. A late September 2001 birthday, he is heading off to the University of Wisconsin for his draft eligible season, which should allow him to develop physically, while playing against higher quality competition.
The main questions around Holloway are regarding his ability to maintain weight to complement his height. Currently, he is very wiry and will need additional meat on his bones to compete competently in the NHL, but there’s plenty of time to get the healthy weight added, as he’ll have access to top notch resources and facilities as well as a condensed schedule at UofWisc to allow him to focus on this aspect of his profile.
For me, a comparable range would be somewhere between Teuvo Teravainen and Jonathan Huberdeau.
